ROBERT (BOB) ANTHONY BYDAK June 24, 1935 - February 5, 2015 On February 5, 2015, with his family by his side, Bob passed away at the age of 79. Left to mourn is his wife and best friend of 54 years Sylvia, sons Rob (June), Dan (Nicole Berube), and Jeff (Diane Moran); three grandsons which were the joy of his life, Benjamin, Lucas, and Max. He was predeceased by his parents Tony and Elsie Bydak, and sister Joyce. Bob was raised in the North End of Winnipeg. He joined CN Rail at the age of 16, working as an electrician, draftsman, and retired in 1990 in management after 38 years. Bob was a talented musician, a skilled craftsman able to tackle any project he faced, and a kind and generous person to all who knew him. He enjoyed spending time at their family cottage at Green Lake in the Whiteshell, and upon retirement built their dream home in Silver Harbour north of Gimli, where many lasting friendships were made around the card table. Other things that brought him joy were mushroom and berry picking, fishing, gardening and playing the slots. Bob's favourite times were holidays and Sunday dinners surrounded by family. A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation. We will miss you Hon, Dad, Papa. " So it's true, when all is said and done, grief is the price we pay for love."

  • Everytime I Think about Bob and Sylvia it puts a smile on my face they were so wonderful together, perfect match in my eyes and I am sure he has taken your love, Sylvia, Danny, Jeff, and Rob and your spouses and children with him. Great Family, lots of laughs, great memories. I remember Sylvia in the kitchen and Bob in the Living Room and Sylvia saying "Bob are you dusting" and he said "YES DEAR" WHILE HE WAS SITTING ON THE CHAIR WITH A FEATHER DUSTER IN HIS HAND DUSTING THE CHAIR AND LAUGHING. Sylvia I am so sorry for your loss but I always wanted to thank you both for loving and taking care of my Dog D.C. • Our condolences to Sylvia and the family on Bob's passing. Such a loss! I remember when we first came upon our cottage and couldn't get in, but Bob came over and immediately ran over with a ladder so we could at least peak in the window. A great many memories we share, from watching our kids grow up, especially at the lake, to attending their weddings. So long ago, but the memories will always be with us. He was a great guy and will be missed by us all. - Posted by: Doreen and Gary Exner (Friends) on: Feb 10, 2015

  • It is with our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences that we send our love to you Auntie Syl, Rob, Danny, Jeff as well as your spouses and children. Uncle Bob will be greatly missed by our family and all who had the privilege to have known him. We have so many wonderful memories from Christmases where Uncle Bob played the organ or accordion, picking mushrooms and blueberries at Green Lake to playing cards and fishing. There is so little we can say; so little we can do, but in some small way it may help to know our hearts go out to you! • "Auntie Sylvia", Rob, Danny, and Jeff. I am deeply sorry to hear about the passing of "Uncle Bob". I often reminisce about my times spent with your family, and 47 years later it still puts a smile on my face. “Uncle Bob” was an impressionable man for me in my childhood. I try and carry a part of his zest for life with me whenever I can. Fond memories: His secret fishing spot was the best fun a kid could have & I don’t see a man play an Accordion very often these days, but when I do, I think of “Uncle Bob” and the other fine musicians of Heather Road. - Posted by: Bryan Holigroski (Heather Road Gang 1967-1978) on: Feb 09, 2015

  • Isn't it a blessing when some of the most beautiful people we meet in this world come into our lives again. In Lochwoods we were blessed to have this wonderful person, Bob, come to our home to help install our tv reception. Bob was so kind and considerate in his work and he made it fun. Then, a few years later we meet him and Sylvia in our apartment block in Gimli. Bob, and you, Sylvia, made our time in the building so enjoyable. Thank you! We all loved you both for the joy you brought to us. syotos. - Posted by: Clare and Verna Pangman (Friends from Lochwoods and from Gimli) on: Feb 09, 2015
